The medication: GUAIFENESIN
-
What is guaifenesin?
-
The medication has been known for its medicinal properties since the year 1530.
In its original form, a tree bark extract called guaiacum, it was used as a
treatment for rheumatism. It was purified to guaiacolate in the 1930's. It is
an expectorant that liquefies mucus. It is a constituent of many cold and cough
preparations. Over twenty years ago it was synthesized and named GUAIFENESIN,
and processed into tablet and capsule form. Its original use, however, has not
been forgotten: in the new Physician's Desk Reference for Herbal Medicines,
guaiacum officinale is indicated for rheumatism.
-
Metabolism
-
it is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and is rapidly
metabolized and excreted in the urine. The half-life of GUAFENISIN is 1 hour.
The terms Long-acting or Quick-acting tablets refer to how rapidly a dose of
GUAIFENESIN is released into our system, not to the guafenesin itself.
-
Side effects
-
GUAIFENESIN has already been used for years on thousands of patients. No side
effects have been reported other than rare nausea (usually transient at the
commencement of the treatment). Exacerbation of symptoms are not GUAFENISIN
side effects.

The protocol

Diagnosis
-
It is important to first diagnose fibromyalgia, with a detailed medical
history, a chronology of when the symptoms began and charting the progression
of the illness. There are no diagnostic blood tests for fibromyalgia, but a
basic blood test is needed to ensure that nothing else is causing the fatigue,
muscle pains and other symptoms. Routine blood tests that should be performed
include a sedimentation rate, full blood count, glucose, electrolytes, liver
and kidney functions, thyroid functions, and a basic arthritis panel. In
addition, it should be noted that certain medications have side effects such as
muscle pains or fatigue.
-
Mapping
-
The first map of the lumps and bumps is very important, and it should be done
before commencing therapy with GUAIFENESIN. It is vital to do mapping at all
times during your treatment, since changes are subtle. Each examination
compares the patient's general condition. Lumps and bumps should get
progressively smaller, softer, or more mobile. This simple examination will
suggest that recovery is proceeding. Some of the larger areas, such as those at
the hips or tops of the shoulders, will often split into one or two smaller
areas. When only a few areas remain to be cleared, the improvements may be
minimal.
Equally important are the patient's subjective symptoms and observations. The
mapping is as objective a procedure as is possible in the treatment of
fibromyalgia. Some time in the future, the lumps and bumps so graphically
illustrated on the first map will be just a memory.
-
Diet
-
Women with fibromyalgia have a forty percent chance of developing hypoglycemia
or carbohydrate intolerance as well as fibromyalgia, named FIBROGLYCEMIA. Men
with the condition have a twenty per cent incidence.
Fibroglycemics require a diet or risk a failure to respond to GUAIFENESIN.
Hypoglycemia and fibromyalgia go hand to hand, and there are many overlapping
symptoms. Adherence to the proper diet is mandatory to restore well-being. The
best way to diagnose hypoglycemia is for the doctor to take a detailed history.
The emphasis should be placed on the patient's relationship with food, sugar or
carbohydrate cravings, and the subjective feeling after a meal heavy in sweets
and starches.
But even if you do not have all of those symptoms, you may be
carbohydrate-intolerant, and need to restrict your diet. The diet may be strict
or liberal, with specific explanations of what may be eaten and the quantities
allowed.
It is important to note that no specific diet is necessary for those who suffer
only from fibromyalgia.
-
Elimination of all sources of salicylates
-
Aspirin and other salicylates block the action of GUAIFENESIN. There are many
natural and synthetic sources of salicylate (salicylic acid) that will
interfere with GUAIFENESIN's action at a kidney site. All biological cells have
surface areas that house thousand of receptors. Drugs are manufactured to
occupy natural receptors that will either trigger an action or have a blocking
effect.
Once medications are correctly parked, cells under their influence will perform
or inhibit specific actions. In the kidneys, the cells of the proximal renal
tubule house the receptors that permit access to GUAIFENESIN.
Unfortunately, salicylates compete for the same receptors and even fit better
in those spaces than GUAIFENESIN. In the presence of even small amounts of
salicylates, the receptor site is closed for GUAIFENESIN use.
This drug will still liquefy mucus, but it will not have any effect on
fibromyalgia at all.
Salicylates are produced by several plants in quantities that vary from crop to
crop. They are stored in barks, leaves, roots and seeds as weapons against soil
bacteria and fungi.
The skin and intestine easily absorb salicylates from botanical sources such as
herbal medicines or supplements, lotions cosmetics, and even garden plants. It
is important to search for salicylates in all medications, supplements, beauty
products, and other topical applications before starting GUAIFENESIN treatment.
The list of substances which may contain salicylates includes toothpaste,
dental hygiene and gum care products, and chewing gum. Failure to completely
eliminate salicylates is the main reason for treatment failure.
There is no compromise.
-
Calculating the individual dose of guaifenesin
-
There is a specific protocol that requires to be followed step by step,
together with mapping and re mapping. The aim is to prescribe a quantity of
GUAIFENESIN that initiates reversal, which is the cycling dose. If the patient
becomes distinctly worse, that is the correct dosage. It is important to note
that exacerbation or the onset of new symptoms indicates that reversal is
underway.
The patient is given a calendar and makes a note of the various symptoms.
The patient experiences pain when phosphates are first mobilized from the
tissues, he suffers when they are replaced in temporary storage, and
suffers again when they are removed from the temporary storage.
The first signs of pain relief is the assurance of the success to come. Pain,
numbness, and the host of other symptoms that are felt while taking GUAIFENESIN
are due to the reversal process itself, indicating an improvement in the
clinical state.
Patients generally ask how long it takes to reach the first reversal cycle.
Fibromyalgia is genetically determined, and respond to GUAIFENESIN is
individual and dependent on the severity of the genetic disorder. In a given
family the dosage required is similar for all its members. There are quick
responders and slow responders.
Finding the proper dosage may be a difficult task. Each patient with
fibromyalgia has a different pain threshold. A small number of patients will
have only minimal symptoms during their reverse cycles. A mapping and
re-mapping procedure is essential in all cases and can confirm that improvement
has begun and dosage used is correct.
Mapping can also detect the presence of a salicylate block.
For those few patients (5%) who improve without the initial exacerbation, an
improving map is a sign to proceed with caution and patiently await the
appearance of good days.
The question is often asked how long the healing process will take.
In general, two months GUAIFENESIN treatment is required to
reverse the accumulation of metabolite debris of one year of fibromyalgia.
The clinical improvement doesn't commence until the proper dosage is found, and
the patient has totally avoided salicylates. The longer the illness has been
present, the more time will be required for total reversal.
Newer lesions clear first and the oldest last. Damaged structures from whatever
cause cannot recover. What is important is the visible improvement in patients'
lives; for most it occurs gradually, but for approximate 20% who are quick
responders, the improvement is dramatic.

Cyclotronic Endogenous Ion
Resonance
-
Calcium drives the cell to the precise level of activity originally requested.
In fibromyalgic cells, the high concentrations of calcium cause hyperactivity.
The overwork syndrome of fibromyalgia results in a state of persistent
contraction of the muscles.
Mechanical forces during muscular contraction cause disruption of muscle fibers
and disturb the permeability of the sarcolemmal membrane. This results in a new
influx of calcium ions into the cells and an efflux of potassium ions in
conjunction with hydroxyl ions.
A very modern computerized magnetotherapy technic (Seqex therapy) optimizes
membrane ionisation and this consequently allows modifications of membrane
potentials. This technique helps to restore the balance of the ions.
By re-activating ionic exchange of the cell membranes it revitalizes the
regenerative process and improves cell metabolism.
The technique is adapted to treat the patient's whole body.
Seqex therapy changes significantly the level of pain of the
fibromyalgics. It has also been shown to be very effective in the
treatment of their insomnia and anxiety.
Thermographic studies performed before and after a Seqex treatment have shown a
significant improvement in the blood microcirculation. The blood perfusion to
the kidney filters (glomerules and tubular cells) is therefore facilitated.
This activity of the Seqex therapy helps the GUAIFENESIN to function.
Seqex therapy has no side effects. It applies what is known as "cold" therapy
whereby the electromagnetic energy is not transformed into heat (no Joule
effect).
For this reason, it can be used even in cases of painful acute and chronic
inflammatory conditions such as tendinitis, periarthritis, etc.
-
Immuno-modulation
-
In fibromyalgics the immune system is depressed. They have a greater
susceptibility to infections and allergies.
A lot of fibromyalgics receive antibiotics several times a year. The best way
to cope with that situation is to use the mesovaccination.
It is a well known technique used in France for the past twenty five years.
It is called immuno-modulation and not immuno-stimulation because it uses a
vaccine in a homeopathic dosage injected by mesotherapy one to two millimeters
under the skin in the mesoderm, administering successive dilutions.
The vaccine contains ribosomal bacterial fractions (ribosomes with 70%
titration of RNA) and membranous bacterial fractions. This technique modulates
the immune system. The injections are not painful at all. No vessels or
capillaries run in the mesoderm, therefore no bleeding occurs. There are no
side effects.
Beside AIDS, it can be injected into adults as well as children. For skin and
pulmonary allergies, it provides helpful non-specific desensitization.
My own experience with hundreds of fibromyalgics, shows that they all benefit
from it and reduces the need for antibiotics.
In my opinion it is the best preventive treatment available.
