Half-life of a medication

What means half-life of a medication? In pharmacology, a medication’s half-time is the time it takes for the plasma concentration of a drug to reach half of its original concentration. More simply put, half-time of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. In practice, we consider that a drug has no more pharmacological effect after 5 to 7 half-lives.
